Because Sawtry is on the edge of fertile Fen countryside, much of the farm land around us is for arable purposes. To the East of Sawtry, rises the first real hill between the North Norfolk coast and Northamptonshire. On a clear day, from the top, the view stretches for something over twenty miles. Church Street is one of the "old" Sawtry streets. Houses seen here (below right) have recently been modernised inside but retain their outward charm. Following the purchase of St Judith's field (below left) by the Parish Council in the early 1980's, it is now a large green area for recreational activity. Looking from the top of St Judith's field, the panorama towards Yaxley (bottom left) shows the Rockingham and Middlefield areas of the village with the Junior and Infant schools in the middle right of the picture.
