www.buy.at/CARESCO
Thank you to
everyone who has visited our webshop at Buy.at. For those of you
who haven’t, this is a way for you to do your shopping online
while supporting the work of CARESCO and it won’t cost you a
penny extra. Our webshop is at
www.buy.at/CARESCO where
you can access the websites of over 100 retailers. Any items
bought from their websites, as long as you’ve accessed it via
our webshop, will earn commission for CARESCO. For example: -
The Early Learning
Centre will donate 4% of the value of your purchase, The
National Trust will give £20 per membership taken out,
Play.com give 2%, Thorntons will give 8%, Super
Break will donate 4%. Fancy getting Sky Digital? They
will make a contribution of up to £120, depending on which
package you buy.
Support
Fairtrade? The Ethical Superstore will give us 8%, while
Natural Collection will donate a generous 10%. So spread the
word & start shopping!
Please
note
All online
purchases via links on this page generate commission.
Transactions by cheque or over the telephone (unless specified
by the retailer, such as Laterooms) do not generate commission.
At no time during the experience on the retailers sites should
you edit the web address in the address bar. This will disable
the commission being earned.

PHONE AID
… Many thanks to
everyone who has already responded so generously to our appeal
for old mobile phones. But we need more!
In case you missed
it, CARESCO is taking part in the FoneAid mobile phone recycling
campaign. By donating your unwanted mobile phones of any age and
condition, FoneAid will give us £3 per phone, plus an extra £100
of vouchers for every 100 phones we collect. Even if the phones
don't work and are in poor condition, FoneAid will still donate
£3.00 for every single one of them.
FoneAid also
guarantee that every phone is either reused in developing
countries or recycled, so 100% of the phones collected are
diverted from landfill sites where they can cause serious
environmental problems.
We also have
collecting boxes for spectacles (which are passed on to a local
optician to be reused in Africa), stamps (taken to the Woodlands
Centre, Hinchingbrooke Hospital) and silver foil (given to
Hearing Dogs for the Deaf). Please bring your phones, glasses,
stamps and silver foil to the CARESCO Centre, Green End Road,
Sawtry week days between 9 – 12 noon.

Sawtry
Fairtrade Campaign Update
A Who’s Who of
Sawtry organisations & businesses who actively support Fairtrade
is currently being compiled. This will form a Directory which
will be widely distributed within the local community.
Application forms for inclusion will be available from the
Sawtry Parish Council Office and the steering group will contact
local organisations, groups and businesses in the New Year.
Meanwhile if you
want to buy Fairtrade products and your local shop doesn’t yet
sell them, then please ask the shop keeper or manager to get
some in stock and please support the ones who do.
The Directory will
be launched during Fairtrade Fortnight (25th February– 9th March
2008) as part of Sawtry’s bid for Fairtrade Status.
Have a Happy &
Fair Christmas.
