As a Christian village, Sawtry dates from the 11th century when Sawtry Abbey was founded. Little of that remains now apart from a few stones outside All Saints Church and three stone coffin lids inside. The present All Saints dates from the early 1880s when it was built following the demolition of two other churches in the village. Go to the Parish Church website for an update on current activity, pictures and the latest news. The Methodist Church dates from the early 20th century. The School Room adjacent to the church (to the right on the photograph) bares the date 1927. Go to the Sawtry Methodist Church website for more details.
