Sawtry has a developing industrial estate with businesses specialising in a wide variety of light industry from car maintenance to air conditioning, biometrics, agricultural chemical research to reproduction furniture.

Close by is the newest housing development - Chapman Grove - built on land formerly owned by Duncan's Coaches, the street is named in honour of Mrs. Duncan's parents. Most houses on this exclusive street are already sold (as at November 2001). The one shown is still for sale, one has yet to be built and one more will be the subject of a detailed planning application.
