Sawtry Village Car
Scheme - All Change!
Sawtry Car is changing.
As from 1st April, Peterborough Dial-a-Ride will no longer be
responsible for the running of the scheme. Consequently the 'yellow
peril' as it has been affectionately christened, which belongs to
PDaR, will be leaving the village. This means that all trips will be
done by our wonderful team of volunteer drivers using their own
cars.
The Scheme will be
managed by
TACT (Thrapston Area Community Transport). This will mean
some changes to the way the Scheme is run:
Firstly, the fare
will be increased to 40p per mile.
Secondly, there
will be a new phone number: 01832 733336 and a different
voice at the end of the line which will be either Melody Redman or
Lorry Brooks. There will be a message on the old number giving the
new details. CARESCO will remain partners in the Scheme as the local
contact and the place to go for more information about the Scheme.
As always, we need more
drivers who are willing to join the team by making themselves
available. The time commitment involved can be for as much or as
little as drivers are willing to give. Drivers need to be between 21
& 80 years old, with a clean driving licence and a suitable car in
reasonable condition.
This is the moment to
say a big thank you to all at Peterborough Dial-a-Ride who have
helped to get the Car Scheme going. Especially Don Lowe, who has
worked so hard for the Scheme, even leafleting the whole village in
the early days trying to raise awareness of the Dial-a-Ride service.
His support, knowledge and encouragement have been invaluable.
Thanks Don.
