New Steps for CARESCO |
||||||||
|
CARESCO (Sawtry District Care and Resource Organisation) incorporates day
centres, luncheon clubs, a Nearly New shop, swimming therapy, information
centre, Special Needs Playscheme and a thriving community printshop.
For many years it has been based in a deteriorating building,
originally part
of the Agricultural and Education Centre (now the Youth and Community Centre).
On 11 December 2000, the first turf was cut by Councillor Jack Smart, Chair of
CARESCO surrounded by committee members and the Organiser, Kathy Jones, in
preparation for a
desperately needed new building. For a full history of CARESCO, see "The Story of CARESCO" by
Marjorie Dybeck (the first CARESCO Organiser), Pub. 1999 by CARESCO, ISBN 0
9532784 0 9. The
original building dating from the early 70s but still in use to the early
part of 2001 CARESCO
committee members surrounding CARESCO Chair, Councillor Jack Smart as he prepares to cut
the first turf. Councillor

cut and held by Councillor Jack Smart and Organiser Cathy Jones so
that the new building work can be completed by February 2001. |
